Junior Champs 2021: Review

The 2021 Junior Championships was finally held after some rescheduling had taken place. Junior swimmers from within our region and more from around the country took to the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre where some fine swimming was observed.

A strong showing from local clubs, Porirua City Aquatics and Capital Swim Club were evident through two of their fine young swimmers, Nathan Hu (PCA) and Charlie Dickison (CAP). The former breaking two Wellington 9 Year Old’s’ Record in the 50m and 100m Backstroke, and the latter breaking a Wellington 11 Year Old’s’ Record in the 50m Butterfly.

PCA finished the competition top of the club rankings with a whopping 2254 points. This is their 4th year in a row where they have won the title of top club at this event. Second and third were Capital and Tawa, respectively.

Well done to all of our junior swimmers and coaches. We are proud of the efforts and perseverance, especially through constant setbacks. Many thanks to our officials and volunteers for their diligence at this event.
